I want to ftp a text file from dos enviorment to unix enviorment using a bat file. Please help me?

I want to upload files to my ftp server, by ftp command line interface in windows. My hosting server runs Unix. after i am connected to the server, i am in directry called “/”. how do i

1) change to public.html. (equivalent to cd in dos)
2) copy or move files from the slash directory to public.html (eqivalent to copy/move in dos)

When I look at my site, all I see is a square where my avi or flash movie is supposed to be. I can see it in frontpage’s preview (I used frontpage 2003 to design the website, then published it to the server (Unix, FTP).
Everything works fine on the website, except the movie files (Flash and AVI), Does anyone know how to fix that? I can see these in other websites, but not mine. They are uploaded to the server for sure.
I am fairly new to this. Help is appreciated. Thanks.

im using a unix shell script to ftp a file from a remote server to a local server. How can i verify the integrity of the ftp`d file? one way is to use cksum, but how can i use the command on the remote server, without a telnet or remote session?
