I need help with SFTP, specifically winscp?
For years I have been using deluxFTP to upload files to my website. They have decided to remove telnet and ftp privileges in favor of secure protocols, which I completely agree with. The problem is I cannot get it to work. I am using the exact same login, host name and password that I have used for years, which I have been told has not changed. It tells me that my host does not exist. Is there anyway to find the correct host name from my already loaded site? I really need to upload something and IT is not really helping much.
Yes, I am connecting through port 22, but I also tried 21 just ofr kicks
Is it reasonable to expect a developer to build a website without giving ftp access to the server?
I would like some opinions about this. The network admin does not want to give ftp access for “security reasons” and I was told to use WinSCP. I find it very tedious and inconvenient to have to transfer files this way instead of through Dreamweaver.
Thanks!
